Still There! (Mandarin Duck)
Took another trip to see the mandarin duck. Just a few warblers and some other common ducks around at first. Was pleasantly surprised to see him fly in with his girlfriend and another wood duck buddy later on in the morning.

Sunny Day Mandarin (Mandarin Duck)
The sun was a bit harsh today but I did my best to avoid the shadows. Got some pretty good detail as the mandarin came in really close this time.

Mandarin In Flight (Mandarin Duck)
Took this one from about 200 feet with 1200 mm. Just a quick grab as they burst off of the water. Here is the mandarin male flying with his female wood duck mate.

Mandarin Suprise (Mandarin Duck)
Guess we have our own mandarin duck on the island now. He has a wood duck girlfriend just like Trevor too!

Interesting Reflection (Mandarin Duck)
Thought you might enjoy the reflection on this one. Don't know why but it kind of reminds me of a sun fish.

Different Perspective (Mandarin Duck)
Here he is at a slightly better angle. Hard to photograph as he was always on the move.

Mandarin Portrait (Mandarin Duck)
One of the few profile close ups I was able to get.

And Now For Something Completely Different (Mandarin Duck - Domestic)
I had the privilege of photographing one of the most beautiful ducks in the world today, the mandarin duck. They are kind of like an oriental wood duck and are closely related to our native wood ducks. You don't get to see them too often unless they escape, loose their direction during migration, or are part of someone's private collection. Normally found in places like Japan and Korea.
