Low To The Ground (Snow Bunting)
Here is another one I missed posting from a few days ago. The snow buntings like to forage with their bodies very close to the ground. This made them more difficult to see but you also had to be certain not to step on them inadvertently as they would usually not move until you were only a couple of feet away.

Near the water at Piper's Lagoon a hungry snow bunting chows down on some seed that it found in the driftwood.

Finally after several years of chasing old leads on these guys and pretty much getting skunked every time, I got some shots today of a snow bunting. Nice looking little birds and very tame. They usually visit this time each year on their way south from their breeding grounds in the Arctic. There are lots of them back east but they are few and far between out here on the west coast.
