Piper's Lagoon Killdeer
The killdeer were coming in pretty close down at Piper's Lagoon today.

Missed One (Killdeer)
Missed posting this one from the other day. Something interesting about the wing position for me as compared to the others.

Vertical Bank (Killdeer)
This time without the tail flair.

Killdeer Full Spread
Sorry, kind of a distant crop on this one but still nice.

A Flash of Color (Killdeer)
A killdeer uses his tail as a rudder to steer as he comes in for a quick landing.

Parking Lot Killdeer
When the tide started coming in a lot of killdeer flew over us at the parking lot in search of a better hang out to feed. Here is one of a few frames I captured while they passed overhead.

More BIF (Bird in Flight) Practice With a Killdeer
These guys like to run along the rocks at low tide searching for food. They rarely ever fly long distances unless they are frightened by a predator or challenged by a particularly aggressive neighbor. When they do burst into sudden flight you have to be ready. Waited most of the morning for this image once again at French Creek.

Jump! (Killdeer)
A killdeer does a quick jump to escape another killdeer which has chased it out of its feeding territory.
