Dreaming Of Summer (Great Grey Owl)
Can't wait to get into the interior to have another crack at these guys. This image never posted from my last year's trip to Kamloops.

Great Grey Owl
The light was much better for shooting today near Kamloops. Had the extreme pleasure of photographing a mated pair of great grey owls as they hunted in a meadow. They were unconcerned and carried on as if we weren't even there.

Out in The Open (Great Grey Owl)
Here is another roosting shot from the Kamloops trip. Hope you like it.

Narly Perch (Great Grey Owl)
You can see how these guys are perfectly adapted for their environment and blend right in. Very hard to see this guy from a distance as he tends to look very similar to the background in color and texture.

Found Another One (Great Grey Owl)
I Keep finding more good images of the great greys from last year. Guess they were never posted because of their similarity to others that are already online. Hope you don't mind. Just love these guys.

Owl In The Grass (Great Grey Owl)
Another one from the archives.

Giving Me The Eye (Great Grey Owl)
Found this image while processing some of my photos from Kamloops. Hope you like it. Here the Great Grey Owl was keeping an eye on me from a small branch on the side of an old fir tree.

Flight Portrait at Minimum Focus (Great Grey Owl)
Sorry about this one. Gets hard to track when they fly that close.

Coming in For a Landing (Great Grey Owl)
He is preparing to land on a boulder in the grass just up the hill from where I am standing.

Successful Hunt (Great Grey Owl)
A great grey owl returns to feed its owlets after a successful hunt in the meadow.

Glide - Environmental (Great Grey Owl)
A large great grey owl glides towards me in a meadow in the forest near Kamloops. I am photographing from down the hill so he/she is pretty much at eye level.

Lac Du Bois Bluebird (Mountain Bluebird)
In this image a mountain bluebird forages for spiders and grubs to feed it's chicks. Took this picture while visiting the Lac Du Bois Grasslands near Kamloops.

Tunkwa Lake Bluebird (Mountain Bluebird)
Better than a post shot any day. Couldn't resist the lovely blue on this mountain bluebird. Taken a couple of miles from Logan Lake on the Tunkwa Lake road. If you go later in the season like late June or early July there are flocks of fifty or more blue birds sitting in the middle of the road.

Kamloops Bullocks Oriole
The prettiest birds are often the most difficult to photograph. Got this bullocks oriole along with five of his buddies out near the airport at Cinnamon Ridge.

Island 22 Park Lazuli Bunting
Stopped in at Island 22 park to get some images of the buntings there on my way back to Nanaimo from Kamloops. The Fraser River is sure getting high!

Lazuli Bunting #2
Came upon another bunting image this morning from my stop over at Island 22 Park in Chilliwack. They have a distinct song and once you are accustomed to it they are much easier to spot.

Kamloops Tranquille Butterfly
Here is one for all you butterfly lovers out there. Kind of like the ones we get here but with more blue on the wings. Taken with the 600mm and 1.4x at minimum focus while shooting orioles.

Beak Full of Bugs (Yellow-Headed Blackbird)
Lots of hungry mouths to feed this time of year.

Female Yellow-Headed Blackbird
Here is the female yellow-headed blackbird. Every bit as lovely in her own way.

Tunkwa Lake Yellow-Headed Blackbird
Simple but nice.

In Flight (Yellow-Headed Blackbird)
Just couldn`t get enough of these guys during our visit to Kamloops. Very beautiful and entertaining to watch at the same time.

Tranquille Grey Catbird
This is a new one for me. I have heard it said that they can be found sometimes in the Victoria area. Saw this one living among all of the kingbirds and orioles in the cottonwood trees out near Kamloops Airport

Wilson's Phalarope
Another new species for me. These Wilson's phalaropes came down to land in a pond located near Tunkwa lake while I was photographing yellow-headed blackbirds.

Peek A Boo Oriole ( Bullocks Oriole)
They will never see me behind this branch.

Tranquille Oriole (Bullocks Oriole)
Quite a few male orioles on the bike path near the Kamloops airport. Seemed a bit different this year as many nests were right down low and not high in the cottonwood trees like usual.
