Managed to get a bit better background as well as one of the chicks with its head sticking out of the nest hole.

Looks like this red-naped sapsucker has a real mouthful to give to the hungry chicks in the nest.

Strange Looking Bird ??!! (Yellow-Bellied Marmot)
This one marmot just loved climbing up this old snag near the road to get a better view of the people driving by. You had to act fast to get a shot though as it wasn't long before he was down in the grass again.

We arrived at the venue when it was still dark so we were able to catch the first rays of sunlight. This image was taken with the 600mm and 2X converter at the equivalent of 1200mm.

Red Head Duck Liftoff
A red head duck blasts off from the surface of Python Lake in Kamloops. Thank you for the "Explore" and all the wonderful comments. This was just a quick grab in a sequence of several images as he unexpectedly burst out of the water.

This past trip to the Kamloops area has been a bit different from the norm for me. I seem to be spending more time on a few target species as regards flight shots. Here is a male yellow-headed blackbird flying through the marsh at Python Lake in western Kamloops. These birds are both comical and colorful and provide a major attraction for us when we visit there in the spring.
